Two days ago my bf and I picked up our new kitten (11 weeks old). It's my first time having a pet, so I was(still am) very excited. The first few hours he would hide underneath the couch, but later at night he even slept near us. He was still a bit scared, so he made sure to keep his distance. Now it's the second day and he's already wanting a lot of attention (which I love) and likes to nap next to me. I just woke up because I suddenly felt his presence near my face and my heart started to race, thinking he would scratch my face. It got so bad I had to wake up my bf, and he locked the cat out of the room, but now I feel bad and I really want to work on it. How can I overcome being so jumpy around my new kitten?
Update: It's day 4, and I let him sleep inside our bed last night. Reading and watching videos (Jackson Galaxy') about cats really made me feel more confident and reassured. I think I am also lucky that our cat is such a relaxing and affectionate cat.
