Hello! I have two bengal cats, a one year and two months old (Callie, F) that has been with us since January, and we're now introducing a three month old kitten (Zag, M). The kitten is in the studio with me or my partner always, my partner sleeps at night there too to keep him company (the kitten is VERY vocal and requires lots of attention). We have waited until they could tolerate each other's smell via site swapping and eating at the door with no hissing or bad body language. The kitten is super eager to get closer and make friends. We are now at the visual contact stage through the semi-open door while they are eating, but Callie hisses when the kitten starts to approach (we stop him and redirect him to food). They have also had full visual contact through a screen door while eating treats, there was no hissing there although Callie kept her distance. We are closing the door again when hissing happens. Should we try harder not to get to that stage ever and close the door before they've finished eating? Or should we keep doing meals until the hissing doesn't happen?
We're not quite sure where is the point where we're ready to try parallel play.
Thanks for any insight or advice you have!
