Hello fellow cat lovers!

I recently adopted 1 year old calico from the city shelter. First cat I’ve had in over 25 years. Mostly have had dogs during my lifetime. I’m really enjoying her company!

I live in a small 2 bedroom apartment so odor control is a must. Enter the litter genie. Worked well for the first couple of days but now it does not control the odor. Upon researching I saw that the trap door is spring loaded? The one on my unit definitely has no spring, or at least one that works. I manually have to slide in and out- there is no tension to seal.

Is my unit defective? The seal is obviously broken somewhere. Where are the potential failure points? I followed instructions on the installation. I really want this product to work. Thank you!
