Hi all! I (21f) and my boyfriend (22m) adopted a previously feral cat back in early February. She lived in a homeless camp until she was around 1.5y/o and we adopted her at 2y/o. She is quite the scaredy cat, but it sweet nonetheless.

She’s become more socialized since being with us. She sits on the bed, accepts pets, sits near us when we talk, and will sit next to my bf when he works at his desk.

My bf has accidentally scared her a few times. For example, he raised his voice after he got bitten and she ran away. Another time, he helped her onto the bed and accidentally pinched her fur when she wiggled. All of this has been accidental.

Previously, she would warm back up to him pretty quickly, but this past week she seems to still be scared. She will eat a treat from him, then run away after eating it. She doesn’t sit with him as much and will sit with me instead.

He’s been giving her extra treats, petting her, and trying to play with her but she’s not too interested compared to spending time with me.

How do we improve things with her and him?
