How can I seal a plastic milk bottle?

You know how those plastic milk bottle lids have a really crappy seal and how if you lay a milk bottle on its side after it's been opened it's bound to leak some milk out through the lid. I need to start re-using them cos buying small bottles of milk is ridiculously expensive these days. Any advice on how to seal one so it doesn't leak while I'm carrying it to work?
(And, yes, for the inevitable smartarse pedant, superglue would indeed work to seal the lid. Thanks so much.)
