Had the weirdest thing happen at work last night
Post Body

Regular customer came in who I was always friendly with and joked with and she bounces the jokes back. As she entered she tapped her granddaughter on the shoulder, pointed at me and said, "that's the one".

Thinking she was just getting her granddaughter to say hello and going by our previous rapport, I jokingly told her not to point at me with a laugh. Her only response was to glare and dash into the next aisle. I just assumed she was in a rush.

She came back to where I was and started ranting, "What you did the other day was disgusting behaviour! Saying I was in the alcohol section too long, searching my bag, shouting across the shop at me. A man in the queue said you were out of order and I agree. I've put a complaint to management". She looked like a different person as she said this, and walked away, leaving me bewildered and wondering what the hell just happened. It was as if she had some sort of bipolar attack.

She then came back to where I was and I asked if it was really me or somebody else, turns out it was me, but I don't remember doing it, or if I did, she'd played along. She then told me I was always harassing her about wearing a mask, but each time I'd mentioned a mask she'd again played along.

Went to the warehouse and spoke with my colleagues and they were equally as confused while my heart's beating out my chest with anxiety. Apparently she really had spoken to the shift leader about it, but far as I can tell they realise it was an overreaction. Doesn't seem to have been taken any further.

I had to tell myself that even though we're friendly, in the end she is a regular customer and not my friend, which helped a lot. It left me feeling a bit uncomfortable but luckily I was nearly finished and able to keep myself occupied.

It's been a strange few weeks at work, to say the least.
