With the announced API changes Reddit is trying to FORCE users into using their own shitty app. For most new users that seems inconsequential. A lot probably don't even know BETTER reddit reader apps like Appolo and Narwhal exist.
This change is big, the reddit official app is NEWER than the other readers and lack a lot of key functionality that users have been able to enjoy. Aside from this, some bots also use the API. These bots can be fun bots like the remind me bot or actually useful like moderation bots AND tl;dr bots.
The sub will participate in the blackout in the aforementioned posts above.
