What is it about Jeremy Clarkson that makes us all (myself included) love him when he’s objectively kind of a shitty person?

Post Body

I’ve been doing a deep dive on Grand Tour lately, and I can’t help but think about this. Of the three presenters, Clarkson is inarguably the biggest asshole. It’s a statement of fact to say he’s racist, homophobic, and a chauvinist in front of the camera, and we know Top Gear ended abruptly because he was physically abusive to staff behind the camera. And yet, somehow, he redeems himself and I can’t help but love watching him in spite of it. I know fully well that all of that is true, and for most people, it’d rightly end their career. But what’s the deeper story here? Why can’t we help but stand by Clarkson?
