I feel this is weird maybe but for the longest I’ve had this idea.
But before I mention it I want to say that I love the rain. Rainy weather. Wet weather. Thunderstorms. I’ve liked the sounds. I’ve liked watching it come down. My mother is the same way.
Anyways, the weird idea I’ve always daydreamed about is having Rube Goldberg like contraption that is powered by rain. Something I can watch on my porch.
If I had the knowledge I wish I could somehow use the rain to produce some electricity for my home.
Rube Goldberg machines are usually impractical things so the production of electricity somehow is just me being practical.
I like the idea because I love watching water flow and spill. Things I’d like to see in this contraption would be little reservoirs that would completely open past a certain threshold of water. Spilling down a gutter with holes. Maybe those holes are above hanging potted plants to water them.
Maybe having the use of bells siphons. To control water flow. I would like to have a part of it that was capable of producing laminar flow if possible.
The inspiration for all of this is those primitive bamboo contraptions you’d see and hear in Japanese gardens. The name is a shishi odoshi. I’ve always enjoyed those contraptions for similar reasons why I like grandfather clocks.
I say day dream of a lot of stuff. I’m not in a place I could do something like that or the money. Or knowledge even. I’m not that Professor from Flubber who made contraptions to make his breakfast.
Maybe one day.
Any one have things they think about they wish they could do? Things you Day dream about doing?
Do you like watching water flow? Do you like rain?
Is there ever things you wish you could build or have for your house to watch from the porch and enjoy?
