Thought my parents disregarded my small requests, turns out they remembered each one
Post Body

this isn't, like, im a spoiled brat who whines about wanting something we can't afford. these requests were just small comments in a span of two months. like one evening, after dinner we usually had fruits and since it's in season in our country we had mangoes. my throat gets itchy if i eat too much mangoes (we've been having it for almost two weeks at that point) so when i was cutting them up for the dinner table i said, "i kinda want oranges now.." nobody responded so i eventually forgot about wanting oranges.

sometimes i do the grocery shopping for our household because both my parents have full-time jobs, but its within a certain budget so i can't really afford to buy anything i want just cuz i have control of what we eat for a week. when we were eating lunch one day i joked that it would've been better if we had squid too. again, small comment, nobody responded. and it's just that. small comments like i wish it stopped raining or it needs more salt.

this morning my parents went to the market on their own, initially my mom invited me to come with but i said i had school. they came home and didn't call for me to put what they bought away (which was weird) but i let it be. after my class ended i checked what they bought (since im the one who cooks most of the time, i need to be aware of what they bought so i dont accidentally buy the same thing again or miss out on it while planning meals) i opened the fridge and see two different nets of oranges (the usual bunch and a japanese one?? it had kanji on the label), then i go to the counter and see marinated squid.

my mom saw me looking happy over it and said "ay i know those arent ur favorites" jokingly. squid isnt my favorite, but im damn sure im elated over having it for lunch today. love oranges tho!

(i thanked them, obv, im not rude)
