I was at the local supermarket the other day, just buying some grocery. Because the lines for cashier checkouts were all way longer, I opted for self-checkout. I bought a bunch of avocados since they were on sale, and proceeded to look for "avocado" in the "Fruit" section on the checkout screen (they were sold by piece, no bar code). Couldn't find it. Had to ask an employee for help.
He looked at my avocados, then exited "Fruit" and clicked "Vegetable" like it was the most obvious thing ever. Avocado, vegetable?! What universe am I in?
For context, the country is France. I'm an international student, and apparently after 5 years in, I'm still experiencing culture shock. For you guys in France, is it the norm, or is it just this one weird supermarket?
