My husband and I are about to celebrate 4 years of marriage next week. We have a couple traditions.
The first is that we gift each other something based on the traditional yearly wedding gift. So for example year 1 is paper so I gave him a groupon for golfing and he printed a weekend getaway out on paper for me. Year two was cotton so he received two pairs of boxers (one said "property of [my name]" and the other said "I liked it, it's mine") and he gifted me towels and some really cute couples pillow cases. Last year, for year three, the gift was leather. I received a leather bracelet with our wedding date on it, and I had a wallet engraved for him with his initials and a love note inside. This year is fruits and flowers. I am presenting him with a personalized charcuterie board and homemade fruit preserves, dried fruits and jellys along with meats, cheeses, etc. Of course, I am not sure what he is doing for me yet.
The second tradition is a photoshoot. On our wedding day, we had a photo taken with an empty frame. We then had that photo blown up and put in the frame and on our first wedding anniversary we had our photo taken holding the framed photo. We then had that photo blown up and on year two, had our photo taken holding the new photo, etc. etc. So this year will be our fifth photo to add to the collection. Last year we did some quarantine photos with masks on but this year we are going to Canmore and hoping for some mountain photos.
Other than that we will probably just have a quiet little dinner at home and enjoy each others company. I think it is important to celebrate but it doesn't have to be lavish or expensive. Do you have any or know of any cool traditions to celebrate anniversaries?
