I adopted my dog almost three weeks ago from a shelter, he's 12 years old with a long medical history causing him to be surrendered by his original family.
We've slowly been bonding and building trust, but tonight I was curled up on the couch (after a long, relatively crummy day) when his little head popped up behind me. Before I could process what was happening, he crawled cautiously into the space infront of my legs - burying his head into my neck and hair. He promptly fell asleep.
I feel nothing but pure love for this creature. I know there's still a long road of bonding and trust ahead of us, but for now I just needed to share how incredibly lucky I am to have him in my life.
I hope all of you get to find this kind of pure joy too
