I love cooking Italian food and I kept seeing recipes that use pecorino romano. However, my usual grocery store only carries one brand that is not even from Italy. Anyway, so I would usually get that one but I always thought it smelled awful and I didn't really get the hype (some people say it's their favourite cheese and it's better than parmigiano reggiano). BUT today, I went to the cheese store to get provolone di monaco for a recipe (spaghetti alla nerano, if you're interested haha) and I ended up getting pecorino romano since the guy told me it would probably be similar. At first I was like hm okay well I guess I'll get it but when I got home and started grating it.. I tried it and wow! So much better and there's no off-putting smell like the one I usually got. I can now say I like pecorino romano, can't believe I was missing out on the good stuff for so long.
