You're not from here, right?
No, I'm from South Carolina.
But you moved from South Carolina to where?
My mother's uterus.
Replace South Carolina with Kentucky and you have my situation. I have a bit of an accent in my voice, so I get the question "where are you from" a lot. When I respond with "Kentucky", people act surprised.
I'm not really sure where my accent came from. I have some ancestors from Germany, but they are far back enough such that it would not make a difference in my voice. Besides, people usually guess my accent is British.
It is so strange! I have had this "accent" for pretty much my entire life, but I've also lived in Kentucky for my entire life. Do you know anyone in a similar situation?
