I'm about to quit my job in customer service and pursue my real career choice in tech and I am terrified.

I've worked in customer service for many years currently I am in a medical insurance call center but I never wanted to be doing this. I've always wanted to be in the tech field. I'm getting my A certificate and I'm worried that now I have to start basically from the bottom again.
Anybody go through the same and want to share their experiences?
