I hate /r/advice, and who doesn't want a little more casual "that's good, and try this to fix that" every now and then?

Me first! Background: I'm 26/f, I got out an abusive marriage 3 years ago with a beautiful 3 year old girl to show for it. I stayed at home for more than a year waiting for my Mom to die. Afterwards things got bad with my Stepdad and we 2 got shipped to Oregon to live with my Stepmom and Dad.

Now: Been Portland area for a year now. Got a crummy job with what was a good company, been there a year. Big changes, can't get promoted even though everyones says they want to. In school, was doing some crappy Sociology but I decided to turn to IT. Looking in to getting help to buy a house. No real friends yet, no hobbies to speak of. Much reddit and TV. Kinda lonely, but that's what I got you for. :)
