Let's say this person is a family member, friend, co-worker, etc.

I don't know where it comes from but I have a strong urge to dye my thinning hair bright red, get my ears pierced, and get a nose piercing. Something like this:

I've always been Mr. clean cut square lol and it's such a contrast to my current bland look.

The thing is I'm no longer in my 20s. And there are very very few men I run across around here with an odd hair color or nose ring let alone ear piercings. My family would probably think I went crazy lol. Current employer has no dress code restrictions against it but I can't help but think it could influence others' perception of me. I've run into plenty of comments online that are critical of this sort of thing on women let alone men.

I thought maybe I could dismiss it as a midlife crisis thing but the desire for ear piercings goes way back, a good 12-15 years, although I had jobs that wouldn't allow it.

That said, maybe someone can talk some sense into me lol. I can't seem to go through with it, yet I can't seem to get the thought out of my head.
