Itās so exciting! After about a year and a half, I got a new position with an investment firm!
I currently work at a hospital system, and it has been very rough since I started working there.
Negative things that have happened to me in this role (I promise, the ending is super positive!):
-I moved across the country for this position. A week in, my boss quit and then I was moved to a facility that I did not interview with.
-A coworker of mine would regularly grope me. She would touch my butt and she would grab the inside of my thigh, and it was horrible.
-I told my boss about the situation above, and he said, āWelp, it must feel nice to be wanted!ā And then laughed off the situation, because my coworker is a 60 year old woman.
-A new position opened up due to someone leaving, and I told the leader in my department who was over that role, that I would love to help him out and fill in for this role if needed. He said, āThank you for the offer but youāre too young to work this role. Get a few more years of HR experience under your belt, and then youāll be a promising candidate. (Which is fineā¦ but then this man got fired from my organization for flirting with women and punching another man in the faceā¦ so his judgement was off).
-The coworker I shared an office with had an affair with her husband - with another man who was married. Both of their spouses found out at separate times - both of who would pop into my office to berate my coworker. Thenā¦ she broke up with her āloverā to go back with her husband, which lead to a lot of threats that literally left me worried for my life - butā¦ no one died or was seriously injured š
-Another position came open, and the HR team gave another internal candidate the position. Someone without a bachelors degree, someone without any HR certification, someone less personable and tactful as me, and someone who did not know the organization as well.
Since the last incident, Iāve been looking for a new job. And it finally came my way! Iām getting a $15k increase, a sign on bonus, and a 10% profit share. Itās a few more miles of a drive every day, but itās a small organization and they truly seem to care about the people who work there.
When I put in my resignation, the VP of HR at my facility offered me a new position with a $10k increaseā¦ but I just said, āno.ā I told him about everything Iāve experienced, and he was truly sorry about the things I had experienced.
Itās been a crazy process, but I CANNOT wait!! I just had to share this with the internet b/c this may be the happiest moment of my life! Itās sillyā¦ and no one else may care about it, but itās life changing! And Iām just so excited!
