Why is anime so hated on unjustly I’ve never understood why most anime’s are chill and fun to watch but still hated on none the less sm I tweaking or what
As an anime fan since the 90s, the first thing people ever mention is the language barrier, people hate subs, most don't enjoy regardless if it stems from laziness or not. After that is that many in the west don't see it as any different than Western cartoons which are disregarded as content for children, despite the existence of adult cartoons dating back decades before anime became popular.
Past those 2 points you get more critical criticisms such as the over the top sexualization of women and in fewer cases these days, children. To make the sexism worse it's clear many animes are geared to the male perspective and due to issues with the Japanese culture in general often like diverse characters outside of aesthetics. Many only have token minority groups reduced to comic relief which and rarely do their stories acknowledge the world outside of Japan making it harder for outsider to get ino their stories.
