Why do redditors always comment on Tiktok-style comedy skits' realism?
Post Body

I get that some bits are funnier if there's a level of believability to them, but it's like Redditors always approach every single video clip they come across as 100% real until proven otherwise, and if so, they absolutely must point out that it's fake. It might just be an increase in awareness, but I feel like it's every single comedy video in subs like funny or unexpected. Do these folk watch SNL expecting realism too? It's starting to feel like how some people treat WWE or reality TV, where if you remotely mention that you enjoy it, those "um aktually" types have to come up and explain that they're fake like people aren't aware of this detail.

I call it "Smartest kid in middle school syndrome".

They were very smart back in school and when they grew up they started to be surrounded by people as or smarter than them.

The constant WELL AKSHUALLY is an attempt to recapture that magic and be the smartest person in the room again.

(Conversely that's why they fucking HATE blue collar -- They remind them of the kids they always felt superior to but were too afraid to openly lord over).
