I'm just about finished with my first semester of college. Right now I'm pursuing a business management degree but I feel like that isn't enough. That all my life has been leading up to something more than that.
Up until pretty much the year I enrolled, I told everybody I was getting an engineering degree. But then I switched to business cuz they wouldn't put me in calc 1 when I was in high school.
The though of regret is creeping in. Even only being one semester in, if I were to switch now, there's no way I'd be able to finish on time. And the thought of staying in college an extra semester, or even an entire extra year sounds so unappealing.
I might just ride out the business degree and use my GI Bill after I commission to get an engineering degree but I don't know. And the thing is, if I had started engineering but ended up switching to business, I could've still graduated on time but it doesn't work vice versa.
More and more people are realizing that it's entirely feasible to work for a while then go back to school and recruiters are increasingly looking for that. Rapidly finished degree work experience is increasingly valuable. Try a tech-adjacent industry. Doesn't have to be some glitzy startup, can just as easily be a factory or what the people over at /r/laserist are doing. The latter could be interesting especially since you get to go to all kinds of interesting locales and sober-minded business people who understand tech are always needed in the event hosting industry.
Also, remember. Remote degrees are an option, and it gets way more valuable with another degree or experience backing it up.
