Do you always ask for gas money whenever someone asks to borrow your car?

Just outta curiosity, is this something that you do? I do not have a car and do not drive either, but i have seen instances where friends ask each other to pay for gas before they can take their cars for a drive or before they can drive them somewhere. For those of you who have cars is that something you request for before loaning your car to someone or giving someone a ride ?
