what's a piece of advice you got that you never let go of?

My parents are very wise people. They gave me a lot of really good advice growing up but I think the best one was the verse/proverb "speak the truth in love". Love without truth is enabling and truth without love is judgemental/callous. I say a lot of things now my parents would say to me when I was a kid but I think that's one of the best ones. That and add a little oats to your hamburger to make it go further. Seriously, tho, it works!
