Devo with shards or copies?

Hi guys, the equipment update just hit my server, right when I started devoing my precious heroes. I have Pd, Ghoulem, Sk, Aries devo and my next targets are Grimfiend and DD. The question is: it's better to use 20k shards or a copy for evolving? I'm f2p, sitting at 117k might, average fame income is 2.5k-3.5k in a week. Considering that I used my aetherrocks for Pd, I will be able to upgrade another equipment in few weeks. I'm sitting on 12k fame right now and don't really know if using my copies of DD and Grimfiend is the right thing to do now.
