I just bought a used Pontiac grand am off a friend.
However, when I checked the oil, I noticed that it is overfilled (it’s noticeably above the cross hatch area).
I read that you can use a syringe type of thing to suck oil out through the dipstick tube. Do I need a specific kind of syringe or hose? What would you suggest?
I plan on getting my mechanic to change the oil anyway, but is it safe to leave it at that level while I drive it over there?
I’d rather not have to jack the car up where it’s at and get dirty just to drain a little bit out.

For sure. But I was going to have someone else do that.
I just wasn’t sure if it was ok to have too much oil just to drive it over to my mechanic.
