won't accelerate to higher speeds (transmission problem or something else?)

Post Body

Hey, I'm looking for any advice on this matter. So my 2013 Dodge Caravan has 211,266 miles on it. For some reason, when I drive the van it can't accelerate to higher speeds.

One day I was driving my car is suddenly it couldn't accelerate it. There would be a delay followed by some shaking and then the vehicle would accelerate.

My mechanic tells me that it's probably the transmission and it'll have to be rebuilt but I have another suggestion from someone else that it may just be that there is no transmission oil. Though there are no leaks and there has no warnings on the dashboard.

could it be the transmission or something else
