I just want my car back😪
Post Body

REAL LONG POST - I’m sorry I’m really venting to people that can understand my pain....

 I am in desperate need of help answering my questions. I have a 2017 Ford Fusion that was in an accident. I was T-boned on my back passenger side. Most of the damage is located near the door and there is some frame damage (image posted below), and sadly all roof curtain airbags and both front seat air bags deployed, and both front seat belts are locked. These seem to be the main problems preventing me from being on the road (the door is bend out at the top so it’s always a crack open).

Questions Below

(A little Backstory)—————————————-

 I have been to what thought was a trusted mechanic that was referred to me by a friend, and he went to price my job, and the initial price was something close to $12,000 to get everything thing replaced that was wrong with the vehicle basically coming out like new (because he said he couldn’t find any perfectly matching parts in a yard, so they’d have to be new). I sat on that information for about a month and a half, then I came back to him with the suggestion to just fix the bare minimum, whatever is physically and legally keeping me off the road; and he agreed.
 Months go by, I give him time because it took a while the first time, and he said he had gotten busy with other jobs at his shop, then the pandemic happened with the stay at home orders so I knew I wasn’t going to get anything from him then. When our order lifted, though I made sure to get in touch with him to see if [after nearly 5 months] he’s made any progress. He basically told me that, the parts he found were the only parts out there and that he wouldn’t find anything cheaper, even though I physically wanted less work done on the car so I mean there is some price difference there.
   He basically said that there’s no changing the price, so I suggested him I’d find the parts on my own and he can just install them, and he went rambling about how they might not fit, they might not be clean, most things I TOLD HIM I DONT CARE ABOUT. And then he sensed that I really was upset with what he was saying, because not to mention he WASN’T nice about it at all. He was so condescending and arrogant, and spoke as my suggestions were impossible to achieve.
 He proceeded to ask me what am I going to do because my car is taking up lot space. I asked if it can drive and everything, and he says it drives well, but the frame scrapes the back tire so that’s worrisome with bumps. And that since I lived 3 miles from there so I shouldn’t be pulled over for my locked seat beats and airbags while driving it home. I was just so shocked because THAT WAS REALLY ONLY IT AND I WOULD GOOD ON THE ROAD? I was furious because I’m the end I wasted 7 months of my time with my car just SITTING at his yard when I couldn’t had my car fixed ages ago.....

***So my questions are;

-What parts can fit a 2017 Ford Fusion SE for doors?

-Will I need to get that frame piece replaced, is so how much of of it is the complete part? Or, can I just sand it down or just cut it away and be okay, at least for now.

-Am I better off getting both front seats replaced, or just replacing the airbags in them and stitching it up?

-Can I use my old headliner when I replace the roof airbags? I honestly truly do not mind how “dirty” it would be.

  • I have a system update recall on my vehicle as well, and I obviously cant go until my car is fixed, but when I can go in I know I’ll need to reset the system for the air bags sensor (that’s what the guy told me) so could that double for that as well? Or are those 2 different processes?
