I am having some trouble with my 2002 Mazda Protege5 and I'm hoping someone here might be able to help. For the past couple of years, the car has had a slow transmission fluid leak (red liquid leaking from front driver's side). I have brought it to two different mechanics, and neither were able to find the source of the leak. Both said the transmission fluid levels weren't low, and that I shouldn't be too concerned. Lately, the leak seems to be getting worse, so I brought it into to someone else. He couldn't find the leak, but flushed and changed the transmission fluid and changed the transmission filter. Even since I got the car back from this last mechanic, the transmission has been slipping (RPMs jump up unexpectedly). If I am on a longer drive, the transmission slip happens once every hour or so. The car has 154K miles on it. Any ideas on what could be causing the mystery leak transmission slippage? I tried using lucas transmission fix in hopes of extending the life of the car. I would love to keep it going to 200k miles.
