This is my 2006 Toyota Avalon Touring. This absolute pos has seen more yat than Ron Jeremy. She's quick and accelerates well past 100. I keep up well with those modern mid to low cylinder turbo cars. she's a bone stock 3.5 V6 making around 270 (or less because of wear).Never touching it unless I put an intake on it bc the factory intake is dog water.
Car sounds fun and it really is but she has problems that i simple feel like it would be a waste of time to fix. The upper control arms were just replaced and they are giving me problems again. To be fair, I expected that to happen, just not as soon as 4 months. It happened because I also have to replace the broken rack and pinion that's struggling hold it down right now. But I would have to find a mechanic who's willing to do that kind of dirty work without trying to charge me $1k and hour for labor.
Toyota dealerships don't like dealing with cars that are older than 15yrs to date. They say that there are no updates for models behind that 15 year time frame. But that raises the question why not just keep the old T.O.'s? I'm sure there are other reasons but I mean it's kind of hard to get good hands in and under the engine for a good deal. Especially for tedious jobs. I've recently been doing all of my own maintenance but I know my limits and I'm not risking my suspension trying to be Monkey.
On top of all of that, I already put 247,657 miles on her. I spank her everyday. Open road? Tap 100 luv. No transmission issues in sport. Drive is a different story. It climbs after the clutch is engaged if I dont listen out for it. The clutch won't fully disengage after the car upshifts. Again in drive. In the 5 speed sport mode I have no problems. The head unit is loud as all hell. It sounds like I put a Whipple on her on lower rpm's.
But I love this car and it was in my life for about 17 years. Should I keep kicking her ass or what??
