How to repair a scrape?
Post Body

Hey all, my car was scraped while parked, and the person didn't leave a note. The scrape doesn't seem too deep, but the body shop estimated a $700 repair, below my deductible. If I can fix it myself cheaper, I will, but I don't know where to get started. The most I've ever painted was a bike. Can this be done at home in a cost effective way, and would you please help me know how I can get started? Thanks.

PS: I see the other post advising newcomers not to ask if things can be done at home- sorry if this is unwelcome, but this seems minor enough that a layman might be able to learn how to do it.
