I had booked Tata Nexon last month. The sales guy said that I can expect the car to be alloted to me by end of the month. But he is also saying that I need to make full payment before I can get the VIN and engine number. I refused and said I need to do a PDI before making any payment. He said I can pay showroom price so that they can invoice it and only then VIN and engine number would be generated. Dear friends who have got delivery of cars recently, kindly guide me on how to proceed with this.

My car will be financed through car loan too so I am not sure if this is how the process is at the moment or if I am being extra cautious. Looking forward to your inputs.
