So I took my car down to my local Tyrepower today for a service and wheel alignment. Got the call to say its all done and when I get down there a couple of hours later get told that someone reversed into it while its in the car park. They handed me a card with the driver's details on it but now I'm having issues getting in contact with him. Have tried my insurance and they say they need full name, address and rego otherwise I'm up for the excess. Can I take his licence number and name down to the local cop shop and get his address and rego or will they not give me that info?
Also a bit surprised that I need to sort this out as I thought it would have been the store's insurance to deal with it but I guess it wasn't caused by them and happened in their car park and i guess it would be no different from someone running into my car while I was shopping at woolies?
The kicker is i've only had it back about 3 weeks after it getting nearly written off in a crash back in July
