Does this ever work in a buyers Market - waiting for a new model?

Hey Guys

Thanks to many who have helped so far... I'm needing a new (or demo, but newish) car ASAP as my current one unfortuantly has died (was always a shitbox)

It's for work - needs to tow - and I'm not after the debate so much about WHAT to choose... Ranger Vs Hilux etc... as I'm pretty sure I'm after the 2024 GST Triton GSR when it lands.

With that said - Dealers are telling me it will come Mid-Feb, Maybe March... Triton die-hards will grab them (maybe) but if I need to order, add 3 months on top... so realistically, I may NOT get one until around June'ish.

This is all fine - but I do need a work car right away. Seeing there is a run out at the moment on 2023 models (Which I actually like the look of quite a bit) - my idea was to maybe try and pinch a good deal on a 2023, demo or near new... drive it, enjoy it for 6 months, 12 months... look after it... and know I'll take a hit... but swap it out and get the 2024 Triton when there is more breathing space.

Does this happen? My only other option is to hire a car, buy a much, much cheaper shit box run about that will do the job until i need one... or do this?

A lot of my friends are saying that its a BUyers Market and I expect to take a hit - but even if I say buy at $60k... drifve for 12 months and take a $15k hit on it - that gave me 12 monhts of using it?

Unusual situation but wondering if anyone had on advice on these sorts of situations?

Cheers
