Hey everyone!
I am an international student and I have a car with me that I use to travel to work and for doing errands. I arrived here last April 2023 to study and work to sustain my everyday living. Up to this day, I haven’t converted yet my overseas license because as per Transport for NSW(see attached photo), if you arrive before July 1, you do not need to convert to Full Australian License until you become a holder of a permanent visa or your overseas license get suspended or cancelled.
I spoke to my friend the other day and he told me that there’s a new rule that regardless if you arrive before or after 01 July 2023, you need to convert to Full Australian Driving license before 01 January 2024.
I am searching on social media platform and on Google if there’s a new ruling for the overseas license holder relating to what he said and can’t seem to find any articles or new ruling.
May I ask if anyone knows about this? If there’s a new law?
Thank you so much! It would be a very big help since I know that it would not be cheap to convert to Full Aus License and if you fail the driving test, you won’t be able to drive around because they will be giving you a Learner’s License which can prohibit me from driving alone.
Thanks!
