My plastic string line roller/handle thingy broke making it a pain to use.
First, the top end broke so the string was wanting to unravel around the end.
Then the handle broke, so no roller.
Lots of replacements in the tool crib, but they're just spools. But no roller handles, so they'll probably be just as inconvenient.
I was considering making a kite string holder type thing and transferring my string to that.
It set me to thinking that, with a world full of carpenters, there have to be better solutions out there. Don't there?
People have been using string lines since before the damned pyramids. I can't believe this crap is the best we've come up with in thousands of years.
On the other hand, I've never seen anything different, so it's possible that this is one of the universes ultimate unsolvable problems.
Thinking about all those carpenters out there made me think of you all.
Now I want to turn this annoyance into a learning experience.
Maybe no one has the perfect stringline solution, but y'all must have seen the occasional clever idea that made you wonder why everyone doesn't do that.
Often, it's the kind of idea that's so simple your mind is blown.
So what tips and tricks do you have?
