Trying to use an Auger bit and it keeps getting stuck, am I using the wrong tool?
Post Body

Hey y'all, I'm usually just working on automotive stuff, but this week my tools are all being used on wood and I'm a bit out of my element.

Have to drill a 3/4 inch through a 2x6, a pressure treated 6x6, and another 2x6. My Spade bit wasn't long enough, and I ended up using this brand new auger bit. The hex end made me think this may not be for use in a standard drill Chuck?

Ended up getting it really stuck and had to use a 1/2 drive impact and socket to get it out. The impact seemed to work better, is there a good reason to not use the impact instead of a drill for all the other 23 holes?

My drill is an old Craftsmen standard drill with a 1/2 inch Chuck.

Thank you for reading!
