For those who do high end work on expensive homes, do you find the work enjoyable.
Post Body

For projects where lines need to match up and hardware needs to function perfectly, is this pleasing to accomplish or does the added stress feel not worth it?

That's all anyone expects of you is to show up and keep trying...

I'm 25 years in doing projects that I never even thought possible, and I'm still learning new tricks and ways to make stuff fit together.

But to be honest I've learned a whole lot on the simple low budget jobs. I still take them on, because they are a great place to experiment and make mistakes with less to worry about. I recently had a job for an architect doing something pretty nontraditional, and against what I would have normally recommended. But he was willing to pay and to take any responsibility for long term maintenance, so I went with it. Told my guys to just have fun with it, do your best, and try to learn something from it...

I've also learned a lot volunteering... If you can find a group doing charity work or find some cause to contribute your skills as a carpenter, you try so many things you wouldn't normally do on a high end project. I'm not talking about doing shitty work, I'm talking about you have 5 volunteers and Saturday to fix up someone's room... No one benefits if you spend too much time making something perfect. Just do your best and have fun making a difference for someone.
