Table saw advice?

Have you guys used the plastic extension that comes with? Is it possible to cut a full size 2x4 (120inches average)for example alone ? For example one partner is holding the other side. Is it safe or a good practice to hold with one hand and switch to the other side with the other hand and continue pulling ?
