I was wondering about this timing and how much has been done re the cutting of Trump appointees from military boards, etc. and I think the answer is that the House returned from recess this week and the Senate is back in session next week. It makes sense to hit with a lot of things hard to break the counternarrative.
Also, 3 senators (two R) got sick with COVID over August break but all are said to be vaccinated. The question is, are they all fit to be back in the Senate on September 13? (It's a very short week for some reason... it's basically over by Wednesday night.) We'll see who's up for the votes next week and what Schumer puts on the agenda.
