Cruise Solo Groups? Plus a cautionary tale....

Post Body

I’m wondering if there are any (decent) cruise groups geared toward solo cruisers? I have cruised alone and absolutely love it, have a credit for another cruise anytime in the next year and I’m ready to book one but I don’t want to go without knowing anyone anymore. I have a group of cruise friends but schedules and trips aren’t lining up right now. I’m not feeling like it’s particularly safe for a single woman (me) to go alone after I had a bad/weird experience. I was in a fb group for singles and asked if anyone cruises and a man messaged me and says he does all the time! We chatted a little about cruises and life and I was just friendly but he got kind of pushy. Saying he’d make sure to be on my next cruise and he always gets the nicest suites and will buy my drinks. He’s not someone I’d be interested in in any situation....but I was like if I see you sure I’ll say hey and we can have a drink. As in I’ll be polite but get the hint, my cruise won’t be all about you.... anyway a woman from the group messaged me and said that he stalked her. She searched him on Google and found out he threw his wife off a cruise ship 3 years ago! Of course I’m like OMG and immediately Google him too....yep! Endless articles about it. He claims she jumped. The adult kids say she had a bad feeling before going, they were separated, people saw them arguing earlier that evening. He totally did it, it happened near Aruba on a different cruise line and the fbi cleared him of any wrongdoing. So Carnival was unaware of this, I contacted corporate and the head of security called me and said they put measures in place to make sure he’s never on a booking with me but they can’t stop him from cruising unfortunately. So that’s why I don’t feel comfy going alone, there’s some creepy people out there but I’m wondering where is a (hopefully safe) place to find cruise buddies?

TLDR- where is a safe place for solo cruisers to make cruise friends? Feeling nervous about solo cruising again because a man who probably killed his wife on a ship still cruises often and tried to befriend me.
