The end of May I had an accident and hit a deer at 5 in the morning. I had just gotten this insurance after a month and half lapse and I'd had about three weeks so I knew would raise flags but had nothing to hide. My car was drivable but lots of damage and deer had ran off and in Illinois you can self report online if no injures and cars drivable. I was running behind for my shift. As I was getting there I noticed that I was going to be to late to be able to work and my heat gauge was going up so canceled my shift and went home. I filed the police report online and then filed my claim. Lady said she was claim person and said because I was new and the lapse needed documentation of my exact date my old policy lapsed and something showing the date of accident. To which I provided a copy of police report and all requested pictures of the damage. About week later I got a call saying everything looked good and did I want my car towed to shop or drive it. I told her that the car engine had started slipping and didn't feel safe driving it ad she had told me closest shop that used was about 45 mins away. I'm from a country town of 2000 in southern Illinois. She had it towed and I waited. A week or so later I get a call from another lady asking me all the same questions and stuff. After I answered she said they had done estimate decided it was totaled. She said the next thing that would happen is in a couple days I'd get papers to sign the car over and they would pay the bank and then if any left I would get the difference. I call a week later as hadn't heard anything and they said they needed video proof of my cars condition dated in a certain range as well as my job address and supervisor number by July 5th. I informed them all I had was the app I used for work as I don't have a supervisor or Phone number and how was I suppose to have video of my car before the wreck. And offered up names and phone numbers of several people who knew cars condition and when wreck happened. They then closed my claim said I didn't send the documents and denied the pay out I still have no idea where car is and owe 22k on a missing vehicle, that's showing I'm behind because I was expecting it paid off and I don't have the cash to pay because Im not working without car and can't get car because shows the big loan I'm behind on. I appealing but I still don't have those documents so I'm sure will be denied again. I'm being told to file with state insurance board but don't know if they can do much since they are basically telling me to prove something that I can't since there were no witnesses and I self reported which I now know never to do that way someone knows what happened.
