Can’t hear or talk to some of my contacts

Why can’t I hear or talk to some of my contacts when using CarPlay? It’s not all contacts, just some. It’s always the same contacts. I’ve checked that they’re not muted. I have restarted my phone. I’ve updated my phone. I’ve tried hanging up and calling them back. I can talk and hear them fine if I’m using WhatsApp or messenger on CarPlay. Any suggestions welcomed, apart from what I’ve already done. Cheers
