i have a 1996 . Lexus SC400 and it came with Pioneer designed ported boxes in the two doors housing one 4" woofer each and the sound system in it's stock form was ahead of it's time. i really hate to toss out these speaker boxes as the doors themselves seem to be made for these enclosures and i just think that they could still make the right pair of speakers sound so good! The only issue is that they're made for the 4"variety and I'm not finding a whole lot to choose from in this size. I realize that the boxes were made for the original set of speakers blah blah blah.. i just think that with even a decently matched set of mids these could again be an awesome feature making the sound top notch. Anyone with any informed suggestions please let me know what they are. I would love to get as much mid bass from them as possible because of i get it right in not going to be doing q rear stage in the car. I am running a 15" sub in the trunk on an old school RF amp. And I've got some Hertz tweeters for the placement of the original 1" Pioneer tweeters that came in the car. I'm not trying to spend a fortune so please avoid the brands that would break the bank of any of us poor-boy enthusiasts..
