[Everyone] I have been thinking lately was there any backlash when capitalism was replacing feudalism?

I imagine there was considering how power hungry the lords were. But well when the printing press was invented the church declared it blasphemy as now anyone could read the Bible but im sure that wasn't the only backlash. I know the feudal system ran on the basis of you can't create more wealth as well as the promise of heaven if you were good but like what did they do to try to keep serfs from trying to move up in the world or merchants from using their materials to make products to sell? Im just curious because they didn't have reddit back then lol.
