Bear with me now:
Capitalists want private ownership of Land and Capital.
Socialists want public ownership of Land and Capital.
How about public ownership of Land and private ownership of Capital?
By giving back to the people access to natural resources you would simultaneously empower the equality of opportunity desired by the Left and the meritocratic economy desired by the Right. If we were to repeal all taxes on production we could have the efficiency of Capitalism and in their place we could leverage a land value tax to create a citizen's dividend and reap the equity of Socialism as well.
With this simple microcosmic shift in policy we could enjoy the highest economic virtues of both the Green and Libertarian parties with neither of the drawbacks.
