This is mainly aimed at SocDems and Bernie Bros: Can you guys please do me a favor and before you start in on a debate over the economy NOT immediately pull the "1%" card and attempt to appeal to my inferiority and envy? I'm sorry, but I simply do not share your hate for financially successful people. I live on the poverty line, but I'm sick to death of Socialists assuming guilt on part of wealthy people. What have they done wrong? Is mere individual success really an evil, or are you genuinely asserting that no wealth can be accumulated honestly?
Before you assume guilt, let's hear a charge. Before we insist on taxing people for the crime of living comfortably, tell me what every one of those people, who I'm reasonably certain you couldn't name, is guilty of. What have they done warranting punishing them with higher taxes? Is wealth a crime? Do you want to discourage wealth? If not, then why do you insist on taking it? Why should it not belong to them?
Too often people just assume I'm totally on board with other-izing wealthy people, but I'm not. Most people are better off than me, and that's fine. I will certainly call out injustices where I see them and there are certainly means of attaining wealth at the expense of others I think should be seriously reassessed, but this attitude runs counter to the Socialist who thinks they're going to persuade me into accepting terrible economic policies by virtue of some vague and non-specific outrage towards people who might or might not be cheating them somehow maybe.
Before you tell me we should tax wealthy people, tell me what all wealthy people have done to deserve it.
