Hello, fellow economic theorists, I'm working on creating a series of videos covering a range of interesting philosophical and political topics and I've been struggling to find a leftist debate opponent to discuss the merits of Socialism. I've already spent a lot of time arguing with AnCaps, so I'd like to try the other side of the coin.
This is the sort of tenor I'm hoping to bring to the debate table: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLWuScAQwZIwn29vtIitRd7HWej0pn5geQ
Format would be 1 on 1 over Google Hangouts, not streamed (I can't stream) but recorded (audio only). Looking for someone who's up to debate somewhere between 1 and 3 hours (if it need go that long).
I'm willing to debate almost anyone; Communists are cool, Market Socialists or SocDems too, or even something else a little more obscure on the left-side of the political spectrum. Would prefer to avoid clouding the topic with Anarchy, so I will debate an AnCom, but I'd prefer to focus on the Communistic aspects of the ideology. People with open schedules take priority (the sooner the better, though the debate time is largely up to you).
Lastly, I'm looking for someone with an established presence/persona online (basically you have a consistent avatar big enough to fit in the thumbnail). I'll link your Reddit and Twitter in the description if you'd like.
If any of this sounds up your alley and you think you could crush me in a live debate, hit me up.
UPDATE: Thank you u/willymcdougle for the pleasant debate!
