[Capitalists/Socialists] Have you considered the possibility that the inevitability of either one of you invariably contravenes the other?

Consider the Many Religions Paradox by analogy: How is it that any one religion can be true when there is at once a similar and mutually exclusive ideology that seems to be substantiated by a like number of equally convinced adherents?

Isn't it a little convenient that the left and right are perpetually split down the middle?

While not a refutation in and of itself, it seems pertinent to ask, why is there even a dichotomy in the first place?

If we get down to brass tacks what does Capitalism and Socialism boil down to ethically? Capitalists and the right value individual sovereignty while Socialists and the left value collective sovereignty. If we look all throughout history, does not every society that drifts too close to their sunny ideal, like Icarus, find the restless sea come rushing up to meet them? Is this a history doomed to repeat itself for mankind's failure to recognize a good thing or failure to recognize a bad thing?

It appears to me that where ever individuals move unfettered, injustice follows, and where collectives gain momentum, all else is trampled underfoot. How can we reasonably expect all to serve one or one to serve all but themselves? If you can't be selfish at the risk of the community and you can't be selfless at the risk to yourself, what are you left with?

It seems to me that the eternal dilemma of Capitalism versus Socialism is nothing short of a massive failure to acknowledge, if not the merits of, the inevitability of both sides:

Where individuals profit at the expense of collective merit, there will be strife.

Where collectives profit at the expense of individual merit, there will be strife.

Humans are cursed, simultaneously, with the unailing instinct of self-preservation and reproduction. We are at once individuals out for ourselves, evidenced by our differences, but at the same time social animals, evidenced by our similarities. Those of us who deny either half of ourselves sow the political discord of future generations.

I suggest a compromise.

Tell me I'm wrong.
