Can I change up a tested Ball recipe or do I need to follow it 100%?

Iām wanting to can tomatillo salsa. I found a similar Ball recipe. I usually add a few tomatoes, more garlic, and more onion to my salsas though. For something like this do I need to make sure to follow the recipe EXACTLY?
